Experts will share updates on antimicrobial resistance and advancements in diagnostics and susceptibility testing; efforts to improve patient care. Next a clinician and professor will describe the scope of Cryptococcus infections and invasive fungal diseases in Nigeria and work to improve surveillance. Last\, a survivor will share how a patient experiences misdiagnosis and diagnostic challenges\, difficulties with antifungal treatment and management\, and long-term impacts of Valley fever. Experiences like this are why FDAW is important. \nRegister now \nPresenters: \n\nAna Alastruey\, PhD\, MSc- Research Scientist\, National Centre for Microbiology\, Instituto de Salud Carlos III\, Spain\nDaniel Marcano\, MSc- Technical Officer\, WHO AMR Division\nRita Oladele\, MD- Professor\, College of Medicine\, University of Lagos\, Nigeria.\nRob Purdie– Valley Fever Institute\, Kern Medical; Taskforce of AMR Survivors\, WHO

SUMMARY:Member Spotlight: Phase Genomics
DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday\, July 9\, noon-1 PM CST\, as we explore the innovations at Phase Genomics with Dr. Ivan Liachko\, PhD. \nIn the fight against AMR\, Phase Genomics has developed a unique genomic resource that serves as the world’s largest source of antimicrobial proteins known as lysins.  Lysins are proteins used by bacteriophages to kill their microbial hosts and can be effectively used as precision antimicrobials that overcome resistance mechanisms.  Phase is building a scalable process for screening and optimizing novel lysins to treat a wide variety of infectious threats\, including novel and emerging infectious agents.  \nRSVP \nSpeaker Bio: \n Dr. Ivan Liachko\, PhD | Founder & CEO at Phase Genomics \n Dr. Liachko is the Founder/CEO and Chief Scientist of Phase Genomics and one of the inventors of their core technology. He received his B.S. at Brandeis University\, his Ph.D. at Cornell University\, and went on to do his postdoctoral work in the Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington. He has authored more than 50 academic papers and a number of patents in the field of genomics and synthetic biology. He founded Phase Genomics in 2015 and leads the organization in an executive as well as technical roles. \nLink: https://iastate.zoom.us/j/96757455928

SUMMARY:Member Spotlight: Nano Discovery
DESCRIPTION:Animal Immune Health – An Ultimate Solution to Combat with Antimicrobial Resistance\nAntimicrobial resistance is a global threat to human and animal health and welfare. There are numerous pathogens that can cause infectious diseases in animals. Maintaining a good immune health in animals is the ultimate solution to prevent the diseases from occurring. In this talk\, we present a rapid blood test\, D2Dx™ immunity test from Nano Discovery Inc. for animal immune health testing. The test detects the general immune health in animals during all growth and reproduction stages. The test has high sensitivity to detect compromised immunity and immunity change in animals due to poor nutrition\, various stressing factors\, and infections caused by pathogens. So far\, the test has been applied successfully and widely on cattle (dairy and beef)\, sheep\, goats\, swine\, poultry\, fish\, dogs\, and cats. The benefits of D2Dx™ immunity test to the agriculture animal industry and companion animal health care will be discussed in detail during this talk. \n  \n \nSpeaker: Dr. Treen Q. Huo is the CEO and co-founder of Nano Discovery Inc. Nano Discovery Inc. Nano Discovery Inc. is a biotechnology company based in Orlando\, Florida\, United States. We develop\, manufacture and sell a rapid blood test product\, D2Dx™ immunity test\, to detect and monitor the immune status and health of farm and companion animals. The technology was developed at University of Central Florida\, Orlando\, Florida\, where Dr. Huo is also a professor in the Department of Chemistry and NanoScience Technology Center. \n
