funding opportunity announcement has been issued for the multi-agency Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases program, which supports research on discovery as well as building and testing mathematical or computational models that help improve the understanding of drivers of transmission of diseases. Projects funded under this program should be broad in scope and interdisciplinary.

Partnering agencies for this program include the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, United States Department of Agriculture, U.K. Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, US-Israel Binational Science Foundation and National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Because of the complex nature of projects funded under this program, NIAMRRE will host two networking opportunities aimed at developing competitive research teams. The first of these will be held February 8 from 10-11 a.m. CST. Participants will hear from a current awardee of the grant and can ask questions about the successful application process; additionally, attendees will be placed into breakout rooms for “speed networking” in order to identify potential partners.

The second session will be held on February 9 from 3-4 p.m. CST. Participants will sign up for a 10 minute block of time to connect 1:1 with NIAMRRE Operations Center staff to identify their needs for partners; NIAMRRE will provide a “concierge” service to connect researchers to other members that fit their project needs.

Members can register for Session Two via the Exchange event. For assistance with Exchange, please contact Member Development Specialist Erica Hellmich (ericah@niamrre.org).
